09-11-2021 HWY 199 Cleanup! Help Out!
Please come and help keep Josephine County beautiful! The Josephine County Democrats do a road clean-up every three months to help keep our highways uncluttered and attractive. We have adopted a section of highway that begins near Hubbard Lane on Hwy 199. Please bring sturdy footwear, water, gloves, and perhaps a hat. We need at least 8-10 volunteers to help out. Bags, litter-grabbers, and safety vests will be provided for you. The clean-up usually takes about 2 hours.
From Grants Pass, drive west on Hwy 199 to Hubbard Lane (the last light on 199, near the college). Make a left at the light, then take the first right and park along the road. Participants need to be at least 16 years old. Please bring a mask in case we need to share vehicles.
Please RSVP to chair@josephinedemocrats.org so we can get an accurate head count of our volunteers.
Thank you!!

This issue affects every person worldwide because the health of our entire planet is at stake. While climate change may be at the top of our list, we will also focus on the health of our forests, meadows, lakes, rivers, streams, and the very air that surrounds us here in Josephine County.
Our small but informed and dedicated committee is working to keep you informed to help you make choices and take actions to protect and sustain what we have in Josephine County, in Oregon, and across this beautiful blue planet.

Pipe Fork Creek Hike – 6/20
Join supporters of saving the Josephine County land associated with Pipe Fork.
Josephine County owns a 320 acre parcel of “timberland,” that is directly adjacent to the roadless wildlands and the Pipe Fork RNA. One or more of our Commissioners want to sell it for clearcut logging. The Josephine County Forestry Department has proposed to clearcut 114 acres of mature conifer forest, and under the Oregon Forest Practices Act, would likely not only log off this important forested habitat, but would also likely “treat” stump sprouting hardwoods like madrone, live oak, tanoak and chinquapin with herbicides after the logging is completed. Read More.
Join us in a hike through this beautiful area! Will meet at the Safeway Center parking lot by Key Bank (Williams Hwy) at 8:45AM, then break into car pools. Wear study shoes and appropriate attire for a multi-hour hike. Question? Email environment@josephinedemocrats.org
