What Taiwan can teach the world on fighting the coronavirus

Taiwan has lessons to teach us; only one Coronavirus death and just 50 cases – 1 in 500,000. It’s a reminder that the public health infrastructure – staff, supplies, policy and procedures need to already be in place.

We need strong well funded public health services in US, but have been defunding them for years. Last year Josephine County proposed to privatize most all Public Health Services. And currently the local government does not provide any general budget funds for public health. It should and make it priority number 1.

Analysis: Taiwan put lessons it learned during the 2003 SARS outbreak to good use, and this time its government and people were prepared.
